It's been ages since my last blog! Since May Daisy is now eating practically anything and everything, she can stand on her own for 10 seconds and has 1 tooth!
I have sold lots and lots of cakes from weddings to christenings and done lots of markets and fairs. We are now running a Secret Supper club and hosting a vintage and retro fair in November so it's all very exciting! But I do need to blog more and post more pics, so watch this space peeps!

Busy busy busy!!
I was going to attempt to update this blog on a weekly basis, sadly i have been so busy and have been neglecting my blog :(
I haven't been to any of the markets for a few weeks now as i've had so many commissions for weddings, christenings, birthdays and other lovely celebrations, plus i'm now supplying 3 cafe's in yeovil which is just ace!
New website has been launched too www.daisysvintagekitchen.co.uk
Lots of plans over the next fews weeks too so will try my hardest to keep writing on here.

first day at the market
i've now done my very first day at the yeovil market with daisy's vintage kitchen and it was amazing! thursday was very very stressful and it was quite scary going dowwn there and setting up as i didn't really know what to expect but it was so much fun and the other traders are such lovely and helpful people! i've also got a brilliant spot which is under cover so if it rains i'll never get wet which is just ace! i also have the best friends and family anyone could ever ask for! lots of people came down to support me and they were sending their friends down and giving me shout outs on facebook and the people who couldn't make it down sent me such lovely txts and messages it just made my day so much easier! And again my brilliant boyfriend did lots and lots to help and make things easier, he's the most amazing person i've ever met, i love him so much!

good= first ever cake order for friday. lots of people asking if i would be there every week, someone enquiring about having cake pops for a wedding and making people smile with cake :)
bad= not making the bloody cider crumble as at least to people asked for apple cake, not making a diabetic or healthy option cake, not taking any business cards and making to many bloody cupcakes! (and not being organised so thursday and friday was sooooo stressful!
this week i have to sort out the dining room in order to make it my new "cake decorating room" this will make organizing everything so much better! get more of my website done and definitely make some business cards!
will be at the carboot sale in yeovil tomorrow to see if i can sell the rest of my cakes from friday. hopefully that will go well but i'll keep ou all posted on that one.
in other news, daisy has started some new swimming classes which she really enjoyed. although i really liked her puddle ducks classes (which she's been attending since she was 3 weeks old) the new guy who's taken over is actually very good and i think she'll gain so much more from it!
mum's been down over the weekend and she thinks that she's making words that sound like mum. i so hope mum's her first word that would just be amazing!
anyway, if i have time 2moz night i'll let you all know how the carboot went. interested to see how different it is and how the customers are. xx

new website!!!
my lovely man has managed to launch the "daisy's vintage kitchen" website so we're now online! YAY! although i only have a home page at the moment with button's that don't work, but hopefully by the end of the week it'll be nearly finished with lots of lovely pictures.
going to be a busy week this weed. got lots of sugar work done today for my cupcakes. but the rest of the week will involve lots and lots of baking for the stall on friday, putting the stall up and down in the garden (want to know what i'm doing when i get there on friday morning), making table cloths and cake stands, labels. i'm sure there's more but i'll update you throughout the week.
daisy has yet again been a very good girl all week whilst i've been working and we have a new swimming class to go to on thursday which i'm very excited about.
hopefully i'll have some pictures of my stall to put up tomorrow so i'll keep you all posted! xx

getting post feels like having a birthday!
today in the post my gorgeous cake stand arrived, and some material that i ordered last week which i'll be making a table cloth for the stall out of. i wanted to go for a white table cloth with red dots to go with the "daisy's vintage kitchen" but changed my mind at the last minute and went for white with embroidered flowers. i'm so glad i changed my mind as its much more subtle to my cakes will stand out more.
today i'm going to spend the rest of the day trying to work out how much to bake for friday. i've got such a long list! i'm going to have to cut it down! i just really hope they sell.
Daisy has been an angel and slept for 6 hours in her new cot and goes down in the afternoon now so gives me time to get some work done. she's such a little angel! been researching lots of food as she'll be weening in a couple of months. can't wait for her to try lots of new flavours.

cake pops
selling cakes from market stalls
i've found it hard finding any information on selling at the markets, so i'm kind of making it up as i go along. iv'e now bought my market stall which cost me £150 and i love it! we've had a few practices putting it up in the garden with edd (he's my boyfriend who is the most amazing man in the world! and the best daddy ever!). It looks really good though and i'm very excited to take it to my first market a week today. i've also sorted out my insurence which has cost around £50 a year so not to bad. I've bought a couple of cake stands and some material for a table cloth on ebay so I'm just waiting for those to come through the post. Still lots to do though! have to finish writing my menu sort out bags and packaging and so much more! will post my menu and maybe some recipe's up soon. The thing i'm most worried about is covering over my cakes. i still want them to look really nice but also be free from dirt and germs. the sneeze guards didnt look to nice online. i think i'm going to have tray bakes at the front of the stall covered in cling film and have my cupcakes and cakes at the back uncovered. i fear covering them will just ruin them! But it's all about learning. I've been to lots of markets recently to see how other people go about selling cake and packaging etc but i can't seem to find anyone else doing it around here. that either means people around yeovil don't eat cakes or no one else has bothered. i really hope it's the latter! I think i've spent nearly £1000 on this venture so far so i really hope it works as i no longer have any savings left, although i'm glad i have'nt had to take out any kind of loan.

A GOOD WEEK!!
A little about myself. I've been working in the catering industry for quite a lot of years now and have really enjoyed it! But recently i've just had a little girl named daisy (she is 3 months old now) and have decided that i most definitely do not want to go back to work for 60 hours a week and miss her growing up. so... the plan is to start making money at home. the plan is all things vintage. to begin with im starting with the cupcake and making vintage picnic baskets and see how that goes. i've been researching over the last few months and have made quite a good start! Jan and Feb was spend trawling the internet and researching everything! and this month i have managed to start my website, have passed the health and hygiene inspection with 3 stars(which is apparently the most a new business can get as i don't have any record's of sales yet), passed my health and hygiene course which i did online and received my certificate 2 day's later and only cost £30, bargain! I've also found 1 craft cafe in yeovil to sell a picnic basket in and i'm doing a few free bees to get my self noticed. mini cupcakes for wedding favours and cakes for the local record shop for record shop day.
this weeks plans are, finish professional cookery level 2 course, just paperwork to do now so hopefully can finish by the end of the week, finish my picnic basket and take pics for website facebook etc. look into getting a space at the food market in yeovil on a tues and practice making wedding favours, think we're going for ginger but we shall see.
I'm going to spend my evening making banana cupcakes this evening so pics to follow. xx

in the right direction!
Everything seems to be going in the right direction with my new business venture. starting to set everything up, will hopefully be ready to launch daisy's vintage kitchen on 1st april 2011!
Need to take photos of my cakes and desserts for advertising so having friends over tomorrow which is an excuse to make a cake!
